I'm a ride-or-die for the email train.

It's simple really.

It’s the oldest marketing modality on the internet.

Ie. it’s as proven and consistent as it gets.

It has 4.25 Billion Active Users.

There is no secret algorithm.

You own your list.

It is very lucrative.

And it works to sell anything.

Consumer products, info products, services, even strippers (that’s a story for another time).

When I was growing my agency email would make up for 35-40% of my sales calls every month.

Every month.

For 5 years.

But…

Having used email to drive performance for myself and others for years…

I can say that having an email list is not for everyone.

There are a few “downsides” that some don't have the stomach for.

First:

You need to play the long game.

This means sending emails to your list over a long time horizon.

Most folks want results yesterday.

But like most good things in life, it doesn't work like that.

I have this whole concept called the "Bank of Trust" that you have with your audience.

Like any bank you make debits (take money out) and credits (add money) to the account.

The same goes for the Bank of Trust.

If you seldom send emails and only do when you want to sell something...

Then your 'balance of trust' will be low and you won't sell much of anything.

On the other hand, if you send consistently over your balance of trust will be much higher and you will sell more easily.

One to number 2:

You need to be committed to sharpening your sword a little bit every day.

Meaning, that you don't just go through the motions doing the same shit day after day.

You’re always doing something to improve.

Learning new strategies

Trying some new techniques…

Documenting what happened.

Doing so will always give you something to talk about.

And number 3:

You like to play the victim.

Look...

Email is the oldest marketing channel on the internet.

It's been around, it works.

Your traffic from paid or organic traffic is volatile

Or isn't converting.

Whatever, that happens. It's part of the game.

However, what I have no sympathy for is the constant whining about your marketing not working.

When you aren't doing the straight-forward fundamental things that make your collective marketing efforts perform better when things are humming...

And hold down the fort when things aren't going as planned.

That's right.

If you don't focus on building your email list and sending emails consistently then you can't complain with your marketing shits the bed.

So…

If you have no vision, don't care to improve, and like to be the victim then building your list is 1000% not for you.

On the other hand...

If you want a marketing asset you own, that gives you flexibility and autonomy from the platforms, then start building your list and sending.

It just so happens that Marketing Max and I are hosting a free event this Wednesday at 12 pm ET.

The focus: How to get 5 new clients every month.

Surprise surprise, email is one of those ways.

Sign up, see you there mañana.

To cashflow,
